Award recognition for Charity Champion Rachel
Huge congratulations to Rachel Featherstone, Student Midwife at Whiston Hospital, who was crowned the winner in the Charity Champion category at the Pride Of St Helens Awards!
These annual awards honour those who make an extraordinary difference in our community and Rachel is truly one of them.
In 2022, Rachel faced unimaginable heartbreak when her baby daughter, Maddison, was born sleeping at Whiston Hospital. During this devastating time, Rachel and her family received exceptional care from our Bereavement Midwifery Team - support she says she’ll never forget.
Determined to give back, Rachel created March for Maddie - a challenging 35-mile sponsored walk from Oldham Athletic to Whiston Hospital. Now in its second year, the walk has raised an incredible £13,500 for MWL NHS Charity.
Her courage, compassion and dedication not only honour Maddison’s memory, but also inspire her journey to becoming a Midwife, providing families with the same kindness she once received.
